Match Report

Scottish cup 1st round

Saturday 3rd October 2009
Bridge of Earn 3 - 1 Star of Atholl

Star gave a good account of themselves at a very windy Bridge of Earn, wind was cross field but slightly favoured the Star in the first half, but that did not stop the home team going one up early on, Rab got robbed in the six yard box, and the striker accepted the gift gleefully. After that, the bulk of the pressure was the Stars, we had eight corners in the first half and the best chance of them was a powerful well connected header from Paul which just flew over. In amongst this eventful half we lost Garry, through the injury which, affected him in last weeks game, replaced by Chopper who lasted only five minutes with a bad head cut, throw in Rory's penalty claim, the decision not to give it was as shocking as Kyle's new boots. They sneaked another, and it was hard for the boys to go in two nil down.

Second half roles were reversed in terms of possession, and the home team went three up with an excellent individual goal, after this Ian changed it a bit and immediately got a response, dropping Rory back to midfield, and bringing super sub Kev on who began to ruffle things up a bit, and he got his reward when he won an indirect free kick inside the box, Craig rolled it for Kev who hit it not cleanly but enough to beat the keeper low to his left. Finished the strongest team, and well done Rab on getting the away man of the match. Will try and get a managers quote after every game, should be intresting?
